Admission to the single-cycle degree courses in Medicine and Surgery and Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics requires a five-year high school diploma (baccalaureate). 
 The procedures and deadlines for registration for the admission test and subsequent enrolment are set at national level by the MIUR, Ministry of Education, University and Research.

For access to the Bachelor's degree (three-year course) and the single-cycle Master's degree (five- or six-year course), it is necessary to hold a five-year high school diploma (baccalaureate). Higher education courses, also known as postgraduate courses, are Specialisation Schools, PhDs, Masters and Postgraduate Courses. A university degree is required to access these courses, except for some postgraduate courses which can also be accessed with a high school diploma.
