The Master’s program is open to candidates holding an academic qualification deemed consistent with the program’s objectives by the Selection Committee, belonging to the healthcare-medical, healthcare-assistance, healthcare-technical, biomedical, scientific-biological, or scientific-chemical fields.
Specifically, the following are admitted:
• a university degree of at least three years (according to regulations prior to Ministerial Decree 509/99);
• a degree obtained under Ministerial Decree 509/99;
• a degree obtained under Ministerial Decree 270/04;
• an equivalent qualification awarded abroad, recognized as suitable by the Scientific Committee of the course solely for enrollment purposes;
• any other qualification provided for by current regulations that allows access to university Master’s programs.
Students of non-Italian citizenship must provide a certificate of Italian language proficiency at level B2 or demonstrate such proficiency in a preliminary admission interview.

Based on qualifications and, if necessary, a written exam. The written exam will only be held if the number of applications exceeds the maximum available places.
In that case, scores will be allocated as follows:
• Degree grade: 10%
• Academic and professional qualifications: 30%
• Written exam: 60%

Knowledge of cervical-vaginal cytology techniques. Knowledge of immunocytochemical and molecular methods for cytological diagnostics. Independent reading and interpretation of cervical-vaginal cytological findings. Preparation of reports according to international standards (Bethesda System). Ability to work in a professional team. Self-updating and continuous self-training activities, active collaboration in projects. Organization and management of a cervical-vaginal cytology laboratory. Participation in quality control activities.

The educational objective is to develop practical professional skills in cervical-vaginal cytological diagnostics. The course aims to train healthcare personnel with specific competencies:
• in the organization and management of a cervical-vaginal cytology laboratory, including participation in quality control activities;
• in the reading and interpretation of cervical-vaginal cytological findings;
• in knowledge of the various techniques of cervical-vaginal cytology (conventional cytology, liquid-based cytology, and cell block techniques). Knowledge of immunocytochemical and molecular methods for cytological diagnosis. Preparation of reports according to international standards (Bethesda System). Ability to work within a professional team;
• in self-updating and continuous self-training activities, and active collaboration in projects.
At the end of the program, the cervical-vaginal cytologist who has attended the Master’s course and passed the final examination will have acquired theoretical and technical knowledge enabling them to accurately and promptly read and interpret cervical-vaginal specimens (Pap tests) and prepare reports according to standardized international models (Bethesda System).
