Presentation
The Department brings together the best chemical and geological expertise in areas such as the preservation, assessment, protection and recovery of the environment, geological and cultural heritage, research and characterisation of geomaterials, archaeometry, hydrogeology, modelling of geodynamic processes with effects on both global and local scales, green chemistry, sensor technology, research into molecular magnets, functional organic materials, the traceability of typical food products, the application of computational methodologies in the search for new drugs and innovative materials, bioinorganic chemistry. Today, when attention to the environment, energy saving and the valorisation of all resources, both natural and synthetic, is becoming a driving force for the economy, the contribution that can be made by the chemical and geological sciences becomes crucial. The Department can provide public bodies and companies with a wide range of expertise to provide technical and professional advice and to solve complex problems. The Department is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation for solving chemical and geological-environmental problems and has long collaborated with numerous national and international companies, public and private bodies.
