The new Department of Linguistic and Cultural Studies was established in July 2012. It brings together the teaching activities previously managed by the Faculty of Humanities, and the research activities of its Departments. Commissioned by the institutions and economic actors in the area, the Faculty began its activities in 1999 and is characterised by highly innovative teaching projects. The focus of the Department's interests is the study of cultural diversity in the contemporary world, approached from various points of view: linguistic, historical, philosophical, literary, anthropological, sociological, economic and legal. In both research and teaching, great importance is given to the in-depth study of the interaction between knowledge and languages, the relationships between disciplines, intercultural dialogue and the problems of translation and transformation of texts. Interdisciplinarity, the study of communication tools, in particular foreign languages, attention to cultural diversities and to the changes in the contemporary world allow the Department to build didactic pathways in which one can acquire knowledge that is today particularly in demand in the world of work (such as an excellent mastery of foreign languages and cultures), but at the same time consolidate a thought that is capable of reading the contemporary world in a critical and autonomous manner.
