In 2012 UNIMORE reorganised its teaching and research structures according to the indications of the Gelmini Law. The new organisational structures called Departments were activated, and an interdepartmental liaison structure was set up, called the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, which coordinates the teaching activities of the Medical Area Departments. Teaching has its heart in the Didactic Service Centre. Located at the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Modena, it represents a point of excellence for the University in terms of technological equipment and the variety of services that can be made available. However, teaching also takes place in the wards of the Hospitals, the sites of an education that finds one of its most important moments in clinical practice. in fact, it is the number of students in the research laboratories, in the various departments, that gives a sign of the integration between the moment of treatment and the moment of research aimed at discovering tomorrow's therapies. Within the Faculty, teaching, care and research accompany future graduates throughout their university and professional lives.
