Student who resides outside of the parental household
When completing the ISEE 2025 Certificate, which is required for submitting the application for Benefits, No Tax Area exemption, and university fee reduction for the 2025-2026 academic year (ISEE 2025 Certificate for subsidized benefits for the right to university education), students should remember that in order to be considered an independent student, they must meet both of the following requirements:
a) Residence outside the family home for at least two years prior to the date of filing the single declaration (ISEE compilation), in a dwelling not owned by a family member. The declaration of change of residence as reported to the registry office of the municipality of residence will be considered valid - the change of domicile does not affect the calculation.
b) adequate income capacity, the student must have earned income from employment or similar, declared for tax purposes, of no less than €9,000 per year, for at least two years prior to the date of submission of the single tax return (ISEE compilation).
If even one of the two requirements is not met, the student cannot be considered independent and therefore the income and assets of his or her parents (and of the members of their household) must also be taken into account by submitting an ISEE aggregated with that of the family unit of origin when applying to Er.Go.
Students are advised to contact their CAF, social assistance center, or advisor for appropriate advice on submitting the correct certification.
The Independent Student status refers to the ministerial regulation, Article 8, paragraph 2, of the Prime Ministerial Decree of December 5, 2013, No. 159, updated by Ministerial Decree of December 17, 2021, No. 1320, Article 3, paragraph 1. Please note: Following verification that one or both of the requirements for independence from the family unit of origin are not met, the reduction in the comprehensive contribution will be revoked, with the maximum tax rate applicable.
